Bush Ghoodhu Wongutha Tours
Hear the first story of ‘Kulgooluh’ Kalgoorlie with the Brownley family.
Bush Ghoodhu Wongutha Tours is a family business and are passionate about their Country and culture. They offer a range of cultural experiences both in and around the town of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. The Brownley family are also well known for their sweet sounds of their southern and country gospel music and earned the family the 2017 West Australian Music (WAM) Award for best Indigenous song for The Man of Calvary. Their music is also a legacy to keep their Wongutha language alive.
Kalgoorlie (Kulgooluh meaning ‘place of the silky pears’) is one of Australia’s most iconic gold rush era towns, but there is another side to this legendary town. With an Aboriginal history that dates back many thousands of years, it is a place of great cultural significance to the Wongutha people, with many Dreaming Stories connected to the land.
Bush Ghoodhu Wongutha Tours gives you a glimpse into both the modern and ancient history of Kalgoorlie on a range of tours. We invite you to join our Wongutha guide and hear the ‘first story’ of Kulgooluh.
