East Coast

Rich in natural beauty and premium fresh produce the east coast of Tasmania is a wild and abundant paradise. Long beaches, rugged coast lines and five national parks create a unique coastal experience for visitors. Two stand out natural features of the east coast are, the stunning Freycinet National Park with its pink granite mountains, white beaches and crystal-clear sea and the beautiful Bay of Fires or larapuna with its massive orange boulders ringing the turquoise bay.

The east coast offers premium fishing and delicious fresh seafood, as you move further inland, you’ll discover delicious fresh produce with fruits and berries from orchards and full-flavoured beef and lamb raised on seaside pastures. The clean cold coastal waters offer great deep-water game fishing and the underwater caves, rock walls and fissures create spectacular scuba diving.

The local Aboriginal culture is written on to the east coast landscape not a museum. The local palawa culture and stories are defined and linked to the landscape, walk the east coast to discover the palawa story, contemporary palawa culture is most strongly tied to the east coast, as well as the Furneaux Islands.
