Uluru & Surrounds

If you haven’t heard of these two, you must have been living under a rock! Uluru and Kata Tjuta - two World Heritage-listed natural icons formerly known as Ayers Rock and The Olgas.

This iconic site, an imposing red rock rising 350 meters high, for thousands of years has been at the centre of the life of the Pitjantjatjara Anangu people. You can see Uluru from the air on an incoming plane, and catch a glimpse of it from roads into the region. When you arrive you can trek, camel ride or even motorbike around the 10.6k track

A 45-minute drive away lies Kata Tjuta, which translates in the Anangu as ‘many heads’. The complex, sacred rock formation is a gathering of some 36 granite and basalt boulders, which together form incredible gorges. You can walk the Walpa Gorge in around an hour, or leave early and take the wonderful Valley of the Winds walk - a 7.5km hike among the towering boulders and gorges.
