Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne

Founded in 1846 on the south side of the Yarra River, the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne expand across 38 hectares. The Garden slopes into the Yarra River showcasing almost 50,000 plants displayed in 30 living plant collections, beautifully landscaped among seeping manicured lawns, tranquil lakes and majestic trees, visited by bird and wildlife. The gardens are a free public space that can be enjoyed by all, with wide pathways easy for walking, prams, strollers and wheelchair access.

The Melbourne Gardens is a significant site for the local Kulin Nation, an alliance of five Indigenous Australian Nations in south central Victoria, Australia. The Kulin Nation extends around Port Phillip and Western Port, up into the Great Dividing Range and the Loddon and Goulburn River valleys.
