Wollombi Aboriginal Cultural Experiences
Wollombi Aboriginal Cultural Experiences is owned and operated by Leanne King. Leanne is a Dhurug woman who has been living and learning Wollombi cultural lore for over 30 years.
My cultural connection is through the land of the Dharug people and connection to family. Having been an Aboriginal scholar and a university lecturer/coordinator and program manager has augmented a profound understanding of the contemporary and cultural issues of Indigenous communities especially in education. I speak as a Dharug woman who has gained a range of experiences, with that said I acknowledge those Elders and ancestors who have been instrumental in me being who I am today. It is these experiences that have placed me in position of being able to share and grow people up within culture.
I completed the Bachelor of Education in Adult Education in 2000 and gained the Master of Arts in Indigenous Social Policy in 2002. I have been a sessional academic with Australian Catholic University where I previously taught for 7 years in the field of Teacher Education. Prior to this I lectured at University of Technology Sydney in Adult Education and I then I went on to be Program manager at Tranby Aboriginal College. - Leanne King
Wollombi Aboriginal Cultural Experiences offers a range of tours throughout Yengo National Park, one of the eight protected areas that, in 2000, was inscribed to form part of the UNESCO World Heritage–listed Greater Blue Mountains Area.
Only two hours drive from Sydney or Newcastle, yet remarkably secluded, Yengo National Park offers spectacular views, remote wilderness with steep gorges and rocky ridges and Aboriginal cultural heritage.
