Walk with a local guide through the Botanic Gardens discovering different native flora and fauna in the heart of the city. The Aboriginal Native Plant trail takes you on a journey of discovery through the Adelaide Botanical Gardens; seeing, touching, tasting and learning first hand about native Australian plants.
Beyond simply learning about native plans your local Aboriginal guide will explain the importance of social structures within Aboriginal communities, the local food systems, seasonal food trails, hunting techniques and more.
Located on Kaurna land, this is a leisurely guided walk learning about native plants, Aboriginal culture and history.

What to expect
Take a leisurely walk around the Adelaide Botanic Gardens and learn about Aboriginal bush foods, plant uses and some social history of the area. Discover and learn about:
- Traditional hunting techniques
- Various food gathering practices
- How boomerangs are made
- Where to find bush medicines
- Social history of the area
What is included
Departure is from the Friends Gate on Plane Tree Drive.
Duration: 2 hours
Includes: Aboriginal guide, along with Aboriginal interpretations and knowledge.
Approximately 3km easy walk.
A café is located in the gardens if you wish to stay on for refreshments or lunch.

Haydyn is the City of Adelaide 2021 Australian Citizen of the Year Award Recipient.
